Zero to School is a community-driven initiative focused on ensuring every child enters kindergarten healthy, thriving and ready to learn. By bringing together families, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations, we work to strengthen early childhood outcomes and support children during their most important years of development.
Our Story
What began as a pilot effort in St. George has evolved into a collaborative community initiative that brings together families, organizations, educators, and local partners around a shared vision: ensuring every child has a strong start and the opportunity to thrive.
With the support of community partners and investment from the John T. Gorman Foundation, Zero to School has expanded its impact by increasing access to high-quality early learning opportunities, universal developmental screening, family-centered (2-Generation) supports, and early prevention and intervention services. By connecting families to resources and identifying developmental needs earlier, the initiative is helping children build the foundation for healthy development, school readiness, and long-term success.
What is Zero to School?
Zero to School provides universal, no-barrier supports to all St. George families with children from birth to age five, ensuring that every family has access to the resources, connections, and opportunities needed to support healthy child development.
Using a tiered framework of support, Zero to School responds to the varying needs of children and families by offering prevention, early intervention, and targeted services. Grounded in a two-generation (2-Gen) approach, Zero to School recognizes that children achieve the best outcomes when their families are supported, connected, and thriving.
